So, I am planning/packing/stressing/preparing for the Big Trip. We are going to a family reunion, Hubby's side of the family, and it promises to be a fantastic time. A 3 day drive there, and a 4 day drive home due to some side trips. The actual time in the car is not something to look forward to, but the reunion, the trip to the zoo, a stop at West Edmonton Mall to swim in the water park....those are going to be fun moments! Of course, all this takes some serious prep work. Or at least, I think it does. Hubby? Not so much. This is where the differences between men and women are the most apparent. Going on a trip.
We leave in 6 days. My suitcase is open on the floor, and as I do laundry, I carefully place selected things in the case. Hubby will toss some stuff into a backpack the night before we leave, after being "gently reminded" by me.
I have lists on the fridge. Things that need to be done. Items to be bought. Reminders of what must be in the car. When I asked Hubby "What do we need to get done for the trip?" yesterday, he said "That's not for another week! Nothing!"
I have menus in my head of what I will give the kids for breakfast in the car on the way. Hubby said "There's an A&W in that town, isn't there?"
I want to (but I won't!) take at least 3 pairs of shoes. Hubby will be stuck wearing whatever he puts on his feet as he gets in the car Tuesday morning.
It might rain. It might be blazing hot. I need clothes appropriate for the weather for each day. Hubby will bring a jacket.
The good news is, we will both be happy. We will think "my way is definitely the right way." We will look at each other with pity, thinking "That poor sucker has no idea how to do a trip" but still, we will both be happy. In our own ways.
My way is the right way, though.

the womans way is always the right way:)
I don't pack until the day of either...I work well under pressure:)
Oh my gosh. I'm a man. Except for packing underwear. I always pack lots of undies.
Sorry, Tammy, you lose. Too much stress your way. Just grab a few things and go. If you need anything, you can always pick it up at the A&W or Penney's. Relax. Take time to smell the Matanauska cabbages.
Well, I hope you have a great trip! :)
OF COURSE your way is the right way! :)
He'll be sorry when he gets there and has only flip-flops to wear.
Have a fabulous trip~stay safe!
I make my husband do the packing. I get out what I want packed and he puts it in the bags. Why? Because he bitches at me about how I do it. So fine, he can do it then.
