Grandpa!!

I know I've been neglecting this blog, but I have a good excuse. Hubby's father is here for a visit! This is the first time he's met the Boy Terror, and he hasn't seen Girl Terror in 2.5 years. I have always liked Georges, but I love him all the more now that I've seen him with my babies. He plays. He reads. He listens to the endless tales. He plays some more. True, the poor man has to nap every day when the kids collapse, but after an hour he's up and ready for more. On Monday he cooked a turkey dinner for us, and we let the kids open their presents from him under the tree. Grandpa is the best! Ever! When he leaves on Friday it's going to be sad day indeed. Every night and every nap time, Girl Terror doesn't go to sleep until she's been assured that Grandpa will still be here when she wakes up.
I'll be back to writing regularly next week, but for now I am spending my days watching my children be cute and charming, and feeling so proud of them I could burst.

You are sooooo lucky!!!
My father passed away 6 years ago, but he sounds EXACTLY like your father-in-law!
He would sit for HOURS and play with my children, eat their horrible baking concoctions, hopscotch with them, have his hair combed and make-up applied, and on and on and on!!!!
He lived 2 minutes away, and we saw him every day. He was a BIG part of my children's childhood, and we still talk about him every day!!
Enjoy! I'll bet he's having as much fun as your children and you are!!!

Sounds like your priorities are right where they need to be. Kids need to forge these kinds of relationships with their grandparents: the blog will be there regardless.

This makes me think of our kids' relationship with my in-laws. It makes me smile.

The kids are so lucky to have a loving Grandparent who spends time with them in a manner they can enjoy.

Uh oh. Grandpa won't be here tomorrow. Poor little Girl Terror. And what a great guy Grandpa is.

Have fun and by all means don't burst. We'd miss you.

Is GRandpa for rent?

We need one JUST LIKE HIM here, say for a couple days?

We feed well.

:)

What a wonderful reason to neglect us. But never do it again!

Makes me look forward to my dad's visit in a couple weeks... though I still do the cooking -

It also makes me miss my mom, who passed away 5 years ago.
