I'm feeling a little bit sad tonight. One of my former students took his own life last night. He was one of the success stories. Many teachers worked together to help him graduate from high school. He put his best effort in and had a smile every day. But obviously, we missed something. There was a part of him we did not see. And now we are left with a grieving family and stunned friends.
Hug your loved ones today, and let them know how much they mean to you.

Oh my. I lost two students through suicide when I taught at the college when I used to live in the arctic. It still haunts me.
So sorry.
I am so sorry to hear this. Having been in that deep dark space myself I know how hard it is to reach out to those around you even though you know they care. But remember that the world is a better place because you do care.
