straight men can't decorate

I wish I'd married a gay man. Then I might have a chance of having a home decorated with some sort of taste. We've just moved into a new house. This is a rental, so I don't get to be choosy about the colors and all, but since the house was being renovated, the maintainance guy asked me what color I would like the bathroom. I said a nice, light, very pale yellow would look lovely with the green and blue counters. I was thinking along the lines of buttercream. Very subtle. Two days later, I have a lemon-custard yellow bathroom. Walls, ceiling, the entire room. It doesn't really match the purple shower curtain. Oh, did I mention the shower curtain? I foolishly told Hubby that we needed a new shower curtain. As we stood in the store, looking at the lovely navy fabric curtain I had picked out, Hubby spotted what seemed to him to be the perfect thing. I should have gone to the store alone, I realize that now. He was determined. He said things about not having any say whatsover in any part of our house, and dammit, the bathroom would have his input. It's purple, vinyl, a bit transparent. Not lavender. Not plum. Tinky-winky glow in the dark purple. When I am in the shower, the light shines through, giving me a wonderful ultraviolet tinge. The shiny vinyl purple just tops off the lemony sunshine of the walls, let me tell you.

Well, at least it's just the bathroom...

And maybe the violet light will give you some sun tan...
