Things I know now.

Yesterday, I learned a few things. Some of these things any idiot would know, but they have become Very Important Lessons to me.
-Never lean over a lit candle.
-Burning hair turns to stinky ash, which will cover everything in sight.
-There is a reason I pay my regular hairdresser a small fortune.
-There is a reason I don't usually go to whatever salon is open for business at the last second.
-Not everyone with a pair of scissors should be permitted to cut hair.
-I do not look good with half burnt hair.
-I do not look good with hair that's been chopped off to get a melted elastic out of it.
-I do not look good with a short, choppy layered hairdo.
-"No one will ever notice the uneven side" is code for "keep moving your head so people can't figure out what the hell is wrong with your hair".

Eeek. Bad hair can ruin several days - even months. Mine has finally pretty much grown long enough for me to pull it back - it only took about 6 months after the 'hair stylist' (cough gag sputter) chopped it all off. I had asked that it be cut and good, but still be long enough to pull it back into a pony. By the time she was finished - nothing left for the pony. Not one strand.

So I feel for you. Just remember - it WILL grow back. And there are hats or bandanas for the interim!

I'm really glad that it was only your hair that burned...you could always go for the Sinead O'Connor look? Annie Lenox? It'll grow...plus it's still pretty cold up there right? Wear a hat ;0)

Oh, I completely understand. I look terrible in short hair and there are only about two people in this world that know how to cut my difficult hair. Short haircut + new hairdresser=bad

i once burnt my hair in the tub while bending over a candle. at the same moment fire trucks showed up outside my apartment building. a trange coincidence. i had to go down and watch them go in and out and even felt the need to tell one of them what i'd done, i felt so silly.

when it happened i didn't realize for a second and was all, hey why is is getting brighter in here....

but i only singed the very ends and my hair was really long so there was no damage

Burnt finger nails smell really bad too. I've done that a few times:-)

I'd go with the hat idea. Or Dawn's idea. Or both.
