Why?!

We are down to one conversation in this house. I try to introduce other topics, but it doesn't matter. Each and every conversation, whether it's with Girl Terror or not, follows this basic pattern:

Me: It's lunch time.
GT: Why?

Me: Go play for awhile.
GT: Why?

Me: Come on little boy, let's go change your butt.
GT: Why?

Me: I'm going to the bathroom, be good for a minute.
GT: Why?

Me: Looks like it might rain today.
GT: Why?

Me: Hubby, it's your turn. I'm thinking of shooting myself if I don't get out of here.
GT: Why?

Ah Lord, I know that feeling. It's not quite as bad the last couple of days...oh yeah he was at my mothers for most of two of them.

What, that bothers you? Why??? (hahaha)

The way to get more than one word out of her is to say, "Why what?" Then she has to repeat what you said. Then you say, "Why?"

Try this.

"Do you know what happens to little girls that say Why?"

Then say, "They get tickled!" And tickle her.

If she then just says "why" you are in big trouble.

I had a friend who insisted on answering her offsprings every Why? in great and boring detail. Apparently it was the shortest Why period on record :)
