Oh, the sorrow.

The world is ending, the sky is falling, life as we know it is over. Zoboomafoo is no longer on at 9 am, which is when Girl Terror is ready to watch it. I'm sure it's on some other time, but in our house the TV is only on for certain times, and I'm not interested in scheduling the day around a hyper lemur. This morning, when Girl Terror and her own personal stuffed Zoboo bounced into the living room to dance and sing and watch the Best Show Ever, I had to tell her the sad news. "Sweetie, Zoboo isn't on anymore. He's gone, I'm afraid." She insisted that I check other channels, but there were no Kratt brothers anywhere. She sat on the edge of the couch, filled with sad resignation. Her beloved Zoboomafoo was gone. Vanished, without any warning.
I tried to reassure her that we still have a video of the show, and maybe we could watch it once in awhile. She wasn't impressed. It was like telling the pope that from now on, all his church services would be a tape of Billy Graham.
I knew that eventually PBS would stop airing re-runs of the one season Zoboomafoo was on the air. It was only a matter of time. But I guess I didn't prepare Girl Terror adequately. She is now in a period of mourning which I expect to last until sometime tonight, when her love of the Wiggles will push that leapin' lemur right out of her mind.

Life is SO tough for a kid, isn't it? I remember the kidlet getting all crushed when they stopped airing Bear in the Big Blue House in the mornings. Now, several months later, when we DO happen to catch it at another time, she's no longer interested. Fickle, indeed!

Zoboomafoo, Wiggles, hyper leapin' lemur, Kratt brothers... I have no idea what language you're speaking, though maybe I'll learn it once I have kids~

Every time I saw Zaboomafoo and the manic Kratt bros, I felt like washing a handful of ritalin down with a bottle of bourbon. My 3rd child would bouce around the house going "Zaaaabooomafooooooooooo!"
