We're baaaack!

We're home from vacation, woo hoo!!! It was a great trip. I have lots of stories to tell, but for now, here is a basic outline of how it went:
MIL decided to go home. Seriously. She wasn't coping with being on her own, and so she planned to head down the highway with us, and travel with us (meaning I drove her car, and Hubby drove ours) until the roads diverged. "Happy", "relieved", "dancing in the streets naked with joy" do not come close to describing how I felt.

Evening prior to leaving day: I decide we are packed, and ready to rock and roll. So....let's go early! We can make the first leg of the trip this evening, and then tomorrow will be a shorter day! After supper we headed out.
Km 5: MIL has to go potty.
Km 120: MIL has to go. Again. We all take a pee break, since we are stopped anyway. From here until we part ways, just assume that every second time you take a deep breath, MIL has to potty.

This is taking too long.....must make the story shorter.....

After day 2, MIL went one way, and we continued on to Alberta. We spend two nights in Edmonton. We played at West Edmonton Mall in the waterpark, we shopped, and we ate. It was pure heaven. Then we drove to Panorama, BC. Hubby's Aunt and Uncle have a cabin there, and it is gorgeous! We spent 3 lovely days with them, lounging at the lake, visiting, and eating some of the best food ever. Hubby's family can all cook, and I am a champion appreciator of good food. This is why we get along so well.
After we waddled away from the cabin, we spent 5 days in Calgary, staying in the condo of Aunt and Uncle (they were still at the cabin). Yes, this is the best family EVER to marry into. We went to the zoo. We went to Drumheller to see the dinosaur museum. We shopped, and wandered, and visited with a friend.
Finally, we are back home. Home, in my beautiful new house, with no MIL in sight, and ready to just....siiiigghhhh. Sit still. Breathe deep. Enjoy the rest of the summer.

And I bet home is that much sweeter knowing it'll be just the four of you for the rest of the lovely summer...

Your trip sounds wonderful, BTW. I'm envious!

MILs can be a pain, but I bet you made her feel comfortable, anyway. And that's nice.

"Champion appreciator of good food"

I love that! Where do I sign up, I think I have it in me!

I remember the road trips of my youth , the miles and miles of highway... and the potty breaks. Memories!

Michele sent me,

Mike

I'm cheering right alongside you. She sounds like quite the pill. I doubt I would have been as gracious and welcoming as you obviously were.

So glad you had a great trip. I've always wanted to make it to Edmonton. The closest I got was flying over it on my way west in May. Maybe soon...

Sounds like a fun vacation! I am happy that I do not have a MIL.

You probably missed some crappy weather in the Yukon while away too, by my daughter's reports...
