Lucy!!!

I need to introduce you to the newest member of our family....Lucy the whippet.  She is absolutely the sweetest thing ever!

....except when she is being bad.  Then she is VERY BAD.  Her fondness for paper is getting her into all sorts of trouble.

But she's so PRETTY!!!!

Good thing, since Hubby is really quite attached to his books and magazines.
And she's the very best snuggler.

She has two speeds:  On, and Off.  There is no such thing as medium.  We choose her after carefully researching all kinds of breeds, and she fits into our family perfectly! (Except for the magazine destroying.  We don't normally do that.)
She has red hair.  So do 3 of us.
She sunburns easily.  Hubby burns his forehead almost everyday driving to school.
She is all long, lean, limbs....like the children.  NOT like me.
She thinks the best way to spend an evening is curled up on the couch, watching TV or reading a book.

It took me many long years of begging and pleading, but I finally got my dog.  She was worth the wait!

Good thing it is just paper!

So why a whippet? I know nothing of dog breeds, so just curious!

Wow, those legs are freakishly long! I bet she can haul ass in a game of chase. Congrats on the new addition!

Thanks, everyone! Kara, we researched breeds, and a whippet fit perfectly. She sheds very little, she is extremely quiet, good with kids, and loves to hang out IN THE HOUSE. I am not an outdoors gal!

Kara, I found this on Wikipedia:

"Whippets are generally quiet and gentle dogs, and may be content to spend much of the day resting. They are loyal and friendly. Because of this, whippets are known to have been used in aged care facilities. They may bark or jump at strangers and animals and may protect their owner if threatened. They are very fond of books, some are avid consumers.

That's the weirdest looking canine I have seen, in person. It's not ugly or cute, just: weird...

Oh, she's gorgeous! She looks so gentle, too. I just love watching a whippet run -- they are incredibly graceful, and so FAST! Do you have a place she can run (and run and run and run)?

(Oh, and welcome back!)
