I guess I really haven't explained much about where I live. Square Slant asked me if I live in the "back of beyond" and you know what? That really does about cover it! I live in northern Canada. Yukon Territory. We have doctors, but not specialists. For those, we fly to Vancouver. We have shopping, but boy, is it limited. All of our groceries are trucked in. It makes it a pretty costly place to be! We have movie theaters - two! Both owned by the same guy, of course. For entertainment, we have all the winter sport you can imagine, and then some. I've gotten used to seeing people running their dog sleds in the winter, getting ready for the races. We do have summer. From mid June to mid August, if we're lucky. Our other season is winter. Fall and spring are literally a flash in the pan. In the winter, it gets darker and darker until December 21, when the shortest day gives us about 5 hours of daylight. The good news is, after that it gets lighter and lighter out until the end of June, when we get 18 hour days! It doesn't get really dark, just dusk!
If you like to see nature, animals, and true untouched wilderness, this is the place to be. If you don't mind an unusually high percentage of "odd" people in your neighborhood, you'd be welcome. Quirky folks seem drawn to the Yukon! If you would miss theatre, fine restaurants (we have a few, but VERY few), shopping other than WalMart, or being warm, then maybe just visit. If you really aren't bored yet, and want to see more, this is a pretty neat site. It's my town!
So, when are you coming to visit?

I wish I could come visit. It looks so peaceful
Very cool! Thank you for giving us a glimpse.
It is beautiful! Thanks for answering my question - It sounds like a great place...don't know if I could handle it in the winter with only 5 hours of sunlight but would like to give it a shot for a year.
So many places I would like to try!
I'd love to visit, but I am SO not a winter person. How warm does it get in the summer? And how bad are the 'squitoes?
And I love small town movie theatres that are owned by a real person. HIs name isn't Larry Nice, is it?
Oh wow, sounds like my family not only would be a perfect fit, we might be regarded as royalty... I love the Pacific Northwest! One of my fondest memories is the three months I spent there up and down the coast from Big Sur to the top of Washington state. I slept in a tent every single night, and omg, did I love it! I can't wait to get back there!
mmmmmmmmm, I'd love to visit Canada... such wide open spaces and friendly people! I could get my fill of theatres and museums in New York for a couple of weeks, then move on to Canada for a couple of months to unwind. Now that sounds like a holiday worth saving up for :-)
It look like a beautifully, wonderfu and great place to visit..I'll have to keep it in mind!!! I need my seasons though!
I'm sorry I've been such a bad blogger friend...I've been busy running and can only read my blogroll half at a time...AND I just realized it switches sites on me depending on the "size" so I skipped you the past two days!!! OOOPPPS!!! Won't happen again, I promise!~
