Nightmare on my street.

The Girl Terror is crying in bed because her dolly is keeping her awake, despite me telling them both to GO TO SLEEP ALREADY. The Boy Terror is standing in his crib, bellowing for DADDY!!! DADDY!!! Daddy is at school, lucky bastard. The cat is pacing the hallway, yowling because the baby shouting upsets her, and damn it, why aren't I sitting on the couch for naptime kitty snuggles? And me? I'm here, chatting to you, singing "La la laa la" under my breath, hoping I'll wake up and it will all be a bad dream.

solomon: go cut some children in half, you creep.

Mom: I got a nice visual of this scene at your home. (You have the lamplight over your right shoulder, yes?)

Oh no. I've had many, many of these nights. Go to sleep, little monkeys! Let mama blog in peace!

It's moments like this that I wonder why we had kids in the first place.

But if I dare ask my wife this, she'll smack me. So I wisely keep it to myself and try to keep their piercing screams from drilling any more brain cells from my head.

You have my deepest empathy. You're not alone.

Substitute the cat for a dog and... "Honey, is that you?"
