notes from the day

It's been a busy week, but tomorrow we have no school. Instead, all the teachers have to go to a conference. I'd rather just have school, but oh well. I'm going to take my marking with me to do while I listen to the lecture. They can make me go, but they can't make me listen!!!
My new cleaning lady came today! I wasn't sure how I'd feel about someone in my house, but I LOVE it! I came home to a sparkling clean house. She even tossed the bathroom mats into the wash. Everything was clean and lovely! I could really get used to this. She's only going to come once every 2 weeks, but still, it will be a big help. Hubby hates the idea of someone in the house, and he doesn't even want to talk about paying someone else to do our housework. Of course, he's not too anxious to do it himself, either, so he doesn't argue with me!
One of my classes today were talking about their birthdays. They were all born in 1992. Yes, ninety-two. Makes you feel old, doesn't it? I was 22 years old when they were born!! I could be their mother! Suddenly I feel ill. I better go gaze at the clean kitchen floor again, see if I can perk up.

I think a housekeeper is a great idea for any family who has both parents working. Why not spend a bit of money to give you more time with your family or to be alone? Hubby will clue in once he sees how much stress it has taken off the family to have someone else doing the big chores. In my household, it's something we fight about more than anything so if someone else was doing it, we'd find little to fight about.

I think every family with both parents working should have a house cleaner. We had one when I was working and Rachel was younger and we STILL have one, because my husband likes the house clean and you know, no one helps me clean. The great thing is my husband doesn't mind paying for it because it is so worth it to us.

I was born in 1980 if that would make you feel beter.

And having a cleaning lady will help you not just physically but mentally as well.

Thanks for the reminder that we need to find a cleaning lady, too. I also have reservations about the whole stranger-cleaning-my-house thing. But it makes my wife happy. And that, in the end, matters most of all.

I was a cleaning lady once. It was fun, getting to go into someone elses house and clean like that. For some reason, other folks houses just aren't the hardship to clean as your own. Congratulations! You SO deserve it! Oh, and I never ever stole anything. Wouldn't even think of it.

Trust me, on the housekeeping thing - you both can get over any hangups pretty quick and easy. LOL It's only in the recent few years I've had it done and I no longer even clean ahead of her coming. LOL She sees it all and I'm OK with that.
